Through their rigor and focus, the company has become an established leader in medical technology. Athletics partnered with Intuitive to refine their brand positioning, expanding their identity to reflect their role in healthcare’s industry-wide transformation. This work was designed to stretch the lens of audience perception beyond just the best-known technological innovations, to reveal Intuitive’s role in shifting the paradigm of healthcare, together with their customers.

Motion that tells complex stories

A crucial part of this work was setting the identity in motion. Motion enables the brand to get beyond the technology to tell intimate, human stories, and stories of impact at a macro level. At the core of the motion system is the portal – the dot over the central i in Intuitive – the portal through which care is administered in the body. Here, we empower it with a system of motion behaviors to frame new stories. Illuminated, it creates space for reflection, meaning, and quiet focus. Zoomed out, it becomes a collective of particles, speaking to the rich ecosystem of people that are a part of the Intuitive’s narrative. Radial motion brings energy and a smooth precision. Expanding motion invites viewers into immersive, human-centered moments.

Technology-powered. Human-centered.

The new identity system captures the signature precision that defines Intuitive’s robotics. Layered gradient planes reference fields of motion—smooth, controlled, and exact—while maintaining a sense of lightness and ease. The visual language avoids noise and distraction, focusing instead on clarity and meaningful transitions. Every element reinforces the same idea: advanced engineering made approachable, accessible, and human. Through thoughtful design, we translate complexity into confidence, shaping a brand experience that reflects the future of surgical innovation.

Typography

The interplay of bold headlines and clean, accessible body copy ensures communication is always readable, empathetic, and trustworthy. Across devices, print, and environmental displays, typography anchors the brand experience with a sense of purpose and intentionality. It becomes a visual language that elevates key messages while staying grounded in Intuitive’s mission to advance minimally invasive care.

Intuitive Powered by Sesame

With the completion of Intuitive’s expanded brand system, Athletics’ brand governance motion tool, Sesame, was employed to build a suite of versatile communications components that allow the larger Intuitive team to easily develop marketing and communications across their global markets.
